About Chris

Chris Cahill is a Registered Builder (VBA) and the Founder + Director of Primebuilt Constructions, established 2012. Primebuilt has scaled to approximately $3.3M annual revenue with a nine-person team, specialising in custom luxury residential homes, extensions, and medium-density developments across Melbourne's eastern and outer suburbs.

Chris brings 30+ years in the construction and building trades, including a carpentry apprenticeship with specialisation in framing. He grew up attending the building sites of his parents' custom building business - a five-generation trade family heritage. He's been a Registered Building Practitioner with the Victorian Building Authority since 2011 and a longstanding HIA member.

His training spans Passivhaus-certified construction principles, the PAC Process (Live Life Build), and VET trade qualifications from Box Hill Institute. On Hilland's content site, Chris writes about the products he specifies on real residential builds every week: framing nails, batten and decking screws, hoop iron bracing, and the AS standards that decide what's acceptable on a job site.
