About Gerrod

Gerrod Bland is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and the Executive responsible for Digital, Data & AI in Corporate & Institutional Banking at one of Australia's largest banks - a role he stepped into in December 2025 after four years as its Head of Digital, Data & Analytics. His tenure there spans 15+ years; he is also the Founder of SMK Tech, a technology consulting practice.

Across 30+ years in technology, digital, and data, Gerrod's career spans enterprise IT strategy, solution architecture, project management, and executive digital leadership in banking and earlier at eBlueprint, including international experience as an ICT Strategy Program Manager with the U.S. Department of Justice.

His credentials include a Bachelor of Information Technology from Swinburne, a Diploma of Project Management from UNE, Machine Learning study at Stanford (2011-2012), TOGAF, PRINCE2 Practitioner, and his GAICD certification - the latter providing the board-level governance framework that Hilland will need as it scales toward potential institutional investment.

On Hilland's content site, Gerrod writes about the business of fasteners - pricing trends, supplier dynamics, supply-chain economics, and the AS standards landscape from a compliance + governance angle. He co-authors the monthly Hilland Australian Fastener Price Index with Chris.
